Eating Disorders in Children and Their Treatment
Eating Disorders in Children
Eating disorders experienced by the vast majority of children often stem from erroneous behaviors exhibited by mothers during infancy. While children who are delayed in transitioning to solid foods experience difficulty swallowing, those who habitually eat in front of the TV develop picky eating and low food intake problems.
Treatment of Eating Disorders in Children
For the treatment of eating disorders, mothers need to be patient and carefully follow all their doctor's recommendations. During this process, the child must be taught that eating is a physiological need, meals should never be a subject of negotiation with the child, and there should be no insistence on finishing their food. If the child experiences swallowing difficulties, after the necessary physiological examinations are conducted by a doctor and no health issues are detected, a gradual transition to solid food should be implemented.
